Beer and digital telly on your wrist

060818_asahi.jpg

Asahi, the purveyor of fine Japanese beer famous for its golden unchi (turd-shaped) building is adding a technological twist to the joyful slaking of the great Japanese thirst during a typically torrid summer in Tokyo. Put simply; buy beer and (potentially) win a 1-seg TV Watch from Willcom that doubles as a cellphone.

Most of us here in Tokyo don’t need any excuse to buy crates of ice-cold Asahi, but the chance to win the wrist telly just seems too good to pass up. As the illustration shows, there are 5,000 of the 89.5 x 58.0 x 22.3mm, 120g wrist TVs available, with 3,000 in silver and 1,000 each in white or red.

Yoshi’s take: Anyone actually wearing one of those monstrosities deserves a visit from the fashion gestapo.
