Buffalo rolling out shock-resistant/TB-class HDDs

060809_buffalo.jpg

The latest additions to Buffalo’s HDD lineup include both brawny TB-class models and shock-resistant varieties.

The handy 83 x 127 x 21mm, 5,400rpm, HD-PHCU2/UC series, out at the end of August, is supposed to withstand 75cm drops, and comes in 40, 80 and 120GB versions for ¥13,125, ¥17,640 and ¥24,360, respectively.

The company is also expanding its lineup at the high-capacity end of things with the HD-WIU2/R1 series. A 1TB model will cost ¥89,250, while the 1.5TB version goes for ¥156,345. These, too, will appear at the end of August.

Yoshi’s take: Buffalo continues to improve its high-end models while keeping costs competitive. This .5TB HDD came out just a few months ago.
