Japan will start issuing passports that contain biometric information starting next March, the government announced yesterday. Foreign Minister Taro Aso said the IC chips will include the passport holder’s photo, as well as date of birth and other relevant data. Current passports will be valid until their expiration date, though anyone who wants to make the switch earlier can do so.
