Lenovo expects to field more than 10,000 PCs during the 2008 Olympic games in Beijing — far more than the company used during this year’s Winter Olympic games in Turin, Italy.
Chen Shaopeng, a senior vice president at Lenovo, made the announcement during a press conference held on Tuesday to commemorate the two-year mark to the opening ceremony of the Beijing games, which start on August 8, 2008. Lenovo is an Olympic sponsor.
While Lenovo expects to deploy more than 10,000 PCs during the 2008 games, the exact number of computers that are used will depend on the requirements of the Organizing Committee for Beijing 2008, the games’ organizer, Chen said.
Lenovo fielded more than 6,000 computers, including desktops and notebooks, during the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
