Here’s a first for us at DWT a laptop from Mitsubishi Electric, a heavyweight arms manufacturer better known in the United States for its rear projection TVs. The newcomer is a pretty sweet, if not Earth-shatteringly wonderful PC range called the apricot AL C.
The apricot series includes a 996g version based on a Pentium M 753 (1.20GHz) and a skimpy 20Gb HDD. Fortunately, drives up to 100Gb are also available, albeit in a casing that is 16g heavier, and all models feature 7-hour batteries.
The entry-level model goes for about ¥245,700 and the heavier versions start cheaper at ¥241,500. Tolerating that extra 16g seems like a no-brainer to us.
