Non-nude nudes outraging staid Japanese TV viewers

What better way to get back in the swing of things than to start a new year with a clip of some saucy Japanese TV courtesy of the stellar TV In Japan site?

To set the scene, I had the immense good fortune to spend a large part of yesterday afternoon being “entertained” by my brother-in-law’s DJ Ozma CD while returning by car from a trip to the Mt. Fuji area. He may be a fan of the buffoon-like DJ but seemed unaware of the Japan-shaking controversy Ozma’s nude dancers caused this week.

The annual New Year’s Kohaku variety show on NHK was the scene for some cheesy choreographed stripping to accompany a performance of the crap-tacular “Bounce With Me.” As you’ll see in the video below, it’s pretty bizarre and looks more like a PR stunt than a performance with any artistic merit.

After receiving a barrage of complaints the suits in charge claimed the dancers were actually wearing nude body suits, although that still didn’t stop this thing blowing up into a major news item, which is obviously what the performer had in mind. Check it out for yourself — I think you’ll know the real thing when you see it. Let me hear you say Na-Na-NaNaNa NaNaNa NaNaNa….
