Elmo has come out with a great-looking and ruggedized micro CCD that’s so tough it almost seems bulletproof. Take it with you on your weekend of powerboat racing or Formula-1 circuit jaunts, or just drop it down the toilet bowl. The SUV-Cam should be able to handle just about any situation in style.
The SUV-Cam is quite a bit of work, actually. It’s a 30mm-diameter CCD camera that shoots 704 x 480-pixel MPEG4 to a 56 x 102 x 30mm recorder, which boasts a 2.2in LCD. Plus, the whole thing is waterproof to a depth of 3.8m. The rig will go on sale September 29 for, ouch, a rather expensive ¥88,900. Great pictures at the website below.
