Thanko’s binocular-camera for the urban “birder”

060811_thanko.jpg

Birders will soon be able to track their quarry, snap a pic, then download the image to their PCs, all thanks to Thanko’s digital camera binoculars, which come in gloriously designed cheapo plastic.

Sadly, this being Japan, the 2.1-megapixel camera with the 7x optical zoom is just as likely to be prized by peeping Toms as it is by ornithologists. The 116.5 x 67.5 x 37.5mm, 215g “binocamera” costs ¥16,800.
