Tough-love, water-happy USB memories from ATP

060804_petito.jpg

A taste of the rough and rugged US of A has come to Japan in the form of ATP’s tiny but waterproof Petito and the macho ToughDrive.

The 36.3 x 17.6 x 9.4mm 512MB-2GB Petito models, apart from not minding a dip in hotel pool, are also pretty fast when it comes to action, with read times of 30MB/sec and write times of 20MB/sec. The 1GB version costs around ¥17,000.

Meanwhile, the 75 x 21 x 11mm ToughDrive can take a 3-meter dive onto concrete. It’s available in the same capacities as the Petito, and the 1GB model costs about the same as well. Both series are on sale now.

Yoshi’s take: Just what I need when the itch strikes to juggle USB drives on the high diving board at the local swim center.
