It’s not due to hit the stores until August 25, but Sanyo was good enough to send me its new Wiimote charger based on eneloop rechargeable batteries, so why not unbox the thing?
So far, so good…

Nothing strange or startling in here.

As you can see, transferring charge by induction means the inside of the cradle is contact-free - completely bare.

The Wiimote sits loosely in the cradle.

Even putting the protective silicone jacket on the Wiimote doesn’t stop the charging action.

No paperclips needed - a plastic reset button poker is included.

And here’s what it does through the replacement battery pack.

Some nice engineering means the AC cord for connecting up to four chargers stays out of the way when not in use.

While here’s what it looks like when unfurled alongside the AC adapter and its cord.

That’s yer lot - ¥5,500 ($50) for the kit and yes, the batteries do come pre-charged, which is nice, very nice
