World’s largest high-definition LCD TV hits 70in

This time next year you could be watching TV on a 70in LCD from Samsung if production of the new world beater goes ahead as planned.

The company’s latest LCD tops the current record holder by 5in and goes on show at the International Meeting on Information Displays (IMID) 2006 in Korea on Wednesday. Naturally, the screen handles 1080p, as well as boasting of a 180-degree viewing angle and a 120Hz signal, which, Samsung says, reduces motion blur.

Yoshi’s take: The size gap between plasmas and LCDs is now smaller then ever, giving consumers greater choice and, probably, increasing competition.
