100,000 glitch-hit KDDI users say: “%nS%nS!?!”

KDDI admitted earlier in the week that two of its handsets were prone to unexpected power-downs after sending or receiving email containing the characters “%,” “n” or “S.”

The problems occur in Casio W42CA and Hitachi W42H model phones; an estimated 100,000 customers are affected. KDDI is offering to fix the handsets free of charge.

Yoshi’s take: Aw, no one in Japan uses those characters anyway.
