Japanese scientists working to stop train carriages stinking like wet dogs

Bit of a geeky post this one, but we all know how certain train carriages smell decidedly peculiar, particularly during Japan’s rainy season. That old upholstery just gives off a stink once the heaters fire up that’s not conducive to hanging around.

Consequently, it’s something the white coats at the Railway Technical Research Institute (RTRI) just up the road here in Kokubunji are working to eliminate.
