Sure, it’s still speculation, but we give some credence to suggestions of an iPhone launch in Japan when it comes straight from the horse’s mouth. The horse in this case is an Apple Japan account exec looking to place an ad in a particular Tokyo-published magazine.
A source at that magazine contacted us this week saying that the Apple employee stated that the iPhone would be launching in Japan at the end of 2008. This is pretty much in keeping with what folk have guessed before, but hearing it direct from Apple lends a little weight, dontchathink?
Moreover, by that time Apple had better have made some pretty spectacular revisions to the phone or we’re not going to see many real examples of our little hypothetical incident from last week. Phones here are already way ahead, so there’s plenty of catching up to be done.
