BitTorrent has reached agreements with several companies to embed its file-sharing software in their Internet devices, expanding its ability to reach users.

Some of the first contract electronics hardware makers to start embedding BitTorrent software into their devices include Asustek, one of the world’s biggest contract manufacturers, as well as Planex and QNAP Systems.

The three companies will put BitTorrent download manager into their digital home devices, giving users immediate access to speedy downloads using BitTorrent, particularly downloads geared toward entertainment, such as movies and music.

For users, the benefit will be the ability to connect to the Internet and download files without a PC. Some of the products BitTorrent software will be embedded into include wireless routers, media servers and network attached storage (NAS) devices.

Products with BitTorrent embedded:
ASUS WL-700gE Wireless Storage Router
ASUS WL-500gP Router
ASUS WL-500gW Router
Planex BRC-W14VG-BT Router
Planex BRC-14VG-BT Router
Planex BRC-W14V-BT Router
Planex BLW-HPMM-U Router
Planex BLW-HPMM-G Router
QNAP TS101 NAS Server
