Buffalo HDDs hit data speed problems

Some of Buffalo’s HD-HCU2 series external HDDs are hitting speed bumps on their USB 2.0s. Instead, the drives are operating at old and slow USB 1.1 speeds due to a Buffalo blooper.
It looks like the company put some wrong components related to the interface on all of its 160GB-750GB models. Buffalo is offering either exchange or repair. More details below.
