Canon ‘corders bring DVD to the mix

Bios brings the good word on Canon’s first brave attempt at dipping its toe into the DVD camcorder market, revealing that the DC 10 and DC 20 are due to hit the streets in October.

The DC 10 and 20 record to 8cm DVDs and have 1.3 and 2.2 megapixel CCDs respectively, miniSD card slots and 10x optical zooms. Sure, Sony and co have had similar kit out for a while, but word has it that Canon has been holding back until it was able to fit everything into these relatively totable 465g packages, which could win a few filmic fans over from the dark side. Pricing seems reasonable at ¥100,000 for the DC 10 and ¥110,000 for the DC 20.
