We hope you’ll forgive the breathless nature of this post but we’ve only just escaped the madding crowd at NTT DoCoMo’s afternoon session called to announce its new i-channel service designed to bring even more news, sports, and weather information to already harassed i-mode punters in Japan.
Details are still sketchy rather dull actually, but we do know that subscribers will automatically receive headlines that will be displayed as tickers on the standby screen of compatible handsets. A quick push of a dedicated i-channel button will, we’re told, bring up a full channel list, from which it’s i-mode business as usual. Aside from the 150-yen monthly fee, normal data charges apply.
More news and pics of the new 701i series FOMA handsets announced to go with the service as we get it.
