Catch a Shinkansen bullet train on the Tohoku line covering east and north Japan from this October and you’ll get to play with a PSP for free. The loaner service provides the console, headphones and a choice of games.
All of Japan’s Shinkansen are just superb, but the the Hayate (“Gale”) is the fastest of all, topping out at 275 kph, and is found only on the Tohoku routes heading north, which makes the gaming/training combo a nerdy paradise.
Sadly, there are two catches: you’ll have to be in a first-class carriage and the train staff will snatch the handheld back 10 minutes before you reach your destination. Given the speed of the Shinkansen, that probably allows for a quick back nine on Minna no Golf if you’re lucky.
Yoshi’s take: Anyone in first class is hardly going to be that bothered about a free toy for 15 minutes, are they?
