IMJ’s army of iPod speakers and boomboxes

Since we’re on the iPod beat, here’s IMJ’s iLuv line of docking speakers and boomboxes, which really are rather attractive.

There are three new models in a choice of black or white. The iLuv-i177 speakers have a small LCD display, clock, AM/FM radio and an alarm for ¥14,800. Fits iPod gens 3-5, nanos, minis and shuffles. The 1.13kg unit is 302.3 x 171.5 x 76.2mm, the speakers bleat out 3W x 2Ch and you also get a snooze function.

The iLuv-i552 is almost identical but has a carry handle for some takeaway nerdiness. It fits the same iPod models, comes with a clock, the AM/FM radio, etc. but is a bit bigger at 360.6 × 155 × 190.5mm and a touch lighter (1.09kg) than its snooze-happy cousin. That strip of plastic across the top will cost you, because this model’s ¥2,000 more expensive.

Finally, the iLuv-i188 docking speaker has a bit more boost at 3W x 4Ch, while being less bulky at 190.5 × 108 × 140mm and 490g. Fits gens 3-5, nano and mini and costs ¥6,980. All are on sale at the beginning of August.
