
More and more manga maniacs are now getting their anime fix via mobile phones, with NTT’s Comic Site for keitai comic lovers surpassing 10 million downloads since the service went live in August 2004.
Small screens are no obstacles to avid readers with schoolgirls happy to pay the basic ¥315 monthly subscription and then around ¥40 per page for a 15-20 page story for popular titles such as Golgo 13. We know not the fate of Sony’s latest attempt to get into the e-book market, but the mobile services look like they’re a license to print (electronic) money.
