We remember years ago how Sony’s then-president Kunitake Ando would drone on about how it would be wonderful to have a do-it-all, super-duper remote control that would make things easier for everyone. Well, Ando’s been put out to grass, but his idea lives on in Sony’s latest models that are designed to handle your telly plus up to seven other devices.
The “programmable” (if that isn’t too fancy a word for it) RM-PL500D can handle your TV plus seven other devices for ¥4,935; the RM-PL400D can take on your TV plus three devices for ¥3,675, while the RM-PL300D can handle a paltry two extra devices for ¥3,308. The 197 x 54 x 24mm, 130g remotes will be on sale September 10.

Yoshi’s take: My $10 universal remote from the local supermarket pretty much covers all the bases anyway, so I’m sticking with that.
