After months of prevaricating Napster finally made it to Japan last night, bringing the country its first subscription-based music download service.

The one-time MP3 bad boy has teamed up with Tower Records to offer unlimited downloads to up to three PCs (sorry, no Macs allowed) for ¥1,280 a month. Throw in the ability to transfer those Windows Media DRM 10 files to portable players and the charge goes up to ¥1,980.
