July 19th, 2006

NEC will be flooding the desktop market with seven ValueOne MT models on sale at the end of July. The PCs are to be split into “Advanced” types, which use a Pentium 4 and Pentium Ds, and “Basic” types, which ship with AMD’s wares.

The Advanced range will consist of three models, two of which use the Pentium D 940. The top-of-the-line MT850/5A has 1GB of memory, a 250GB HDD and an Intel 945G Express chipset; it’ll cost about ¥130,000. At the bottom end, the MT200/5A will use a Sempron 3400+ (2GHz) CPU and a 160GB HDD, and it’ll fall off shelves for considerably less. The whole lot will be on sale July 21.
