New au cellphones emphasize music, design

In light of Arjen’s recent considered advice to the networks about winning the number portability battle ahead, it’s timely that KDDI fired the first dozen shots yesterday by launching a slew of new handsets in Japan.

The phones are generally pretty uninspiring, so we won’t bore you with the details. There’s some improved music playback developed with Yamaha and a news-ticker service similar to DoCoMo’s i-channel as well as various tweaks to the online services and TV offerings but that’s about it.
