New Olympus Camedia sports nice upgrades

The Camedia SP-51OUZ not only sports a 10x, ISO4000-capable zoom, but it boasts a good deal more megapixels than its predecessor.

It’s been about a year since Camedia released the SP-500UZ model with a 6-megapixel sensor, and the 51OUZ now bumps that figure up to about 7 megs. ISO is 50-400, and the camera can handle JPEG and RAW; it will shoot 640 x 480 pixels at 30fps. The viewer on this 105.5 x 70 x 74.5mm, 325g cam is 2.5in, and it’ll cost about ¥40,000 when it goes on sale in the middle of September. That’s about a third of a decent semi-pro D-SLR. But what don’t you get, eh?

Yoshi’s take: Yeah, this camera seems like it might be a bit bulky and feature-rich for rank amateurs. Sure is pretty, though.
