Just days after Japan launched the world’s latest infrared astronomy satellite, there comes word that graduate students at the redoubtable National Astronomical Observatory have added a new twist to the study of a different type of black hole. The group has rolled out toilet paper featuring text and illustrations explaining the life of a star, hoping the sheets will stimulate the public’s interest in astronomy.
Astronomical Toilet Paper (ATP yes, really, we are not kidding) repeats the celestial life stories every 70cm along the roll. Hey, wipe that grin off your face: the enterprising students, no doubt flush with success, have sold more than 13,000 rolls over the last year. Click the link for the full story.
