As promised, here’s the full lowdown on the 7.5-megapixel LUMIX DMC-L1, Panasonic’s first D-SLR.

The camera, which will go on sale on July 22 for about ¥250,000 has a series of firsts, according to Panasonic PR chief Akira Kadota. It’s the first D-SLR to use the Four Thirds Leica D VARIO-ELEMERIT 14-50mm/F2.8-3.5 lens, which is the first Leica lens specifically for D-SLRs. Another feature camera buffs may appreciate is the shutter speed dial on top of the camera body and the aperture ring on the lens barrel.

But in case you’re not that good, the new Lumix also has Panasonic’s MEGA Optical Image Stabilizer in the lens and it can handle SDHC cards, a bunch of which the company announced yesterday.
