Samsung 1.8Mbps HSDPA handset hits Europe

Those would-be masters of the cellphone universe, Samsung, dropped us a friendly line to say that their 1.8Mbps HSDPA/EDGE handset has just gone on sale in France and Germany.

The SGH-Z560 is a mere slip of a phone and weighs just 98g. Samsung is keen to trumpet the value of super-fast HSDPA: “Users can enjoy large-scale multimedia downloads, such as DVD-quality movies and interactive multimedia games…” We say yes to the second part of that but a resounding “in your dreams” to the movie claim.

Yoshi’s take: This phone has a lot going for it — I just hope I can also use it to make, y’know, voice calls too.
