Even Sharp sometimes has to admit that bigger isn’t necessarily better. The company has gotten over its strange obsession with extra inches and will put 15in and 13in Aquos LCD TVs on sale in Japan on August 4.

The new models may be petite, but they’re reasonably well-equipped. The LC-15SX7 and LC-13SX7 can pick up all of Japan’s digital satellite and terrestrial broadcasts, as well as bog standard analog broadcasting. Both have 640 x 480-dot resolution panels with a brightness of 500 candelas per square meter and a 4:3 aspect ratio; viewing angle is 170 degrees. The 15in version is 36.3 x 22.4 x 37.6cm, 5.3kg and costs about ¥90,000, while the 13in is 32.3 x 18.1 x 34.4cm, 4.4kg and about ¥80,000.
