Tmsuk shopping bot in action

Another week, another shopping robot. Our friends over at Impress have shots of Tmsuk’s shopping robot in action at a mall in its home town of Fukuoka. The robot has been jointly developed by Tmsuk — also known for such monster-masterpieces such as the Enryu — and NTT Communications.

During the trial two of the 170cm, 160kg bots are lurking around the vaguely UFO-shaped Diamond City Lucle (really) shopping center guiding lost souls and navigating by reading IC tags embedded in the floor of the shopping center, part of an IPv6 experiment by NTT Com. Oh, and in case you’re wondering how to pronounce Tmsuk, it’s “Tim suck.” Hur hurrr.
