Two arrested in KDDI data leak case
June 14th, 2006

Akio Minomura, 57, and Akihiko Torii, 47, are suspected of attempting to blackmail KDDI to cough up cash for the info stolen on 4 million of the telecom carrier’s customers, claiming they’d obtained it from a third party.

That third party may well be a company insider according to KDDI president Tadashi Onodera. Not good, not good at all. But what’s more disturbing is that the two repeatedly hit on KDDI starting a couple of weeks ago and KDDI, in the face of increasing evidence of the credibility of the two jerks actually having access to the data, failed to tell the public.
