Vintage Net Cowboy Skype phone
March 24th, 2006

These days, Skype handsets are hitting the Japanese market faster than iPod covers, and that’s saying something. But Net Cowboy has introduced a bit of class into the proceedings with its DC-NCTEL1.

The Win 2000/XP-friendly, ¥5,480 USB handset measures 260 x 130 x 145mm and weighs 740g, which suggests that despite its classic lines, it’s not made out of genuine Bakelite — unlike the 1930s-era Stromberg Carlson 1197, on which it may or may not be based.
