Konica Minolta, Fujifilm and Kodak have just said they’ve gotten the Everplay standard, which defines the format and specification of media files (e.g. JPEG, MPEG-1/2/4, MOV, AVI, and MP3 and WAV) sorted out. The standard is held together with an open XML file format.

Sanyo’s new “Aqua” domestic washer/dryer is unusual in many respects, most notably because it uses ozone to disinfect and deodorize clothes without the need for water. The ozone is injected into the drum, where it decomposes bacteria and the like before returning to the atmosphere.

Daikin Industries, a leader in one of Japan’s least glamorous product areas, air conditioners, has been trying for some time to spice up its image.
