It’s not due to hit the stores until August 25, but Sanyo was good enough to send me its new Wiimote charger based on eneloop rechargeable batteries, so why not unbox the thing?

Sanyo phone runs for 10 days on AA battery
Some of us dinosaurs may just remember a few early mobile phones that were capable on running on regular batteries – they were mostly very low-spec handsets with rechargeable cells that could be swapped out in a pinch for a few minutes of talk time at most.

Projectors aren’t always the most exciting gadgets we come across in our line of work, but Sanyo’s latest effort really raises the bar by opening up entirely new areas for projector deployment. The ¥600,000 LP-XL50’s party piece is its ability to project large images of up to 80 inches onto a surface from just 8cm away.
