It’s been a month since Stuff magazine teased us with that mock-up of what a next-generation Aibo might look like, but we’ve still heard nothing official on the possibility of a return for the robot pet and its new PlayStation interface.

What looks like the latest attempt by Sony to knock the iPod off its throne appears to have kicked off in Japan this morning with the launch of a new website called Rolly World.

Sure, it’s still speculation, but we give some credence to suggestions of an iPhone launch in Japan when it comes straight from the horse’s mouth. The horse in this case is an Apple Japan account exec looking to place an ad in a particular Tokyo-published magazine.
